Happy Anniversary to Us!

Out on our anniversary date
We celebrated 6 wonderful years of wedded bliss yesterday, July 31st.  It's hard to believe it's been 6 years already, but at the same time it's gone by so quickly.  A lot has happened in 6 years.  I've held 3 different jobs (substitute teacher, employee for Dale Carnegie & Associates, and full-time mommy).  We've repainted all but 2 rooms in our house.  We've had a smattering of different vehicles.  We had cats.  We got rid of cats.  We had two babies (we kept them though).  We've traveled to Decatur and Chicago numerous times to see family we love.  We have been to Las Vegas once (honeymoon baby!), Minnesota 4 times & Disney World 1 time.  Andrew went halfway across the world to Romania on a mission trip.  We've seen precious friends come into our lives, and have sent others on to new towns (boo!).

Andrew and I have seen each other at our absolute best and worst (one particularly awful food poisoning incident comes to mind when I think of Andrew's worst, and I am sure he thinks of my 2 weeks of serious anxiety problems last November until medication could balance me out again).

But what hasn't changed?  Our individual commitments to Jesus Christ.  We love and practice Ephesians 5:20 on a daily basis:  "Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ."  We each willingly give up what we want for ourselves to allow the other to have what they want.  When one does this, it's easy for the other to do in return.  This behavior toward each other eliminates so many trivial disagreements that have no importance in the long run.  We look for small ways to bless the other too:  I sneak cookies into his lunch before he leaves for school (he says the way to his heart is through his stomach!).  He hangs up towels in the bathroom that were sitting the dryer 2 days because I couldn't get to them.

Enough of my marriage sermon!  We were able to have the best kind of babysitting around (free!) thanks to Andrew's parents who were nearby visiting Andrew's grandparents.  We went to Kitaro, a hibachi-style Japanese restaurant nearby.  DELICIOUS.  We followed that up with a movie because never go see a movie in the theater!  Had a super fabulous time together.
Giant mound of rice, how we loved you

The finale... MEAT.  We had chicken and filet.
