We get excited about the end of May around here... it means FREEDOM! We're in a unique situation with a full time at-home momma and a daddy who teaches school and has summers off. In the past, it has meant lazy days hanging out together doing whoknowswhat to keep ourselves entertained. I typically fall out of touch from friends because my best friend is at home with me all day! This year needs to be different though as we can already tell a lack of structure around here is wreaking havoc on our household: the boys don't really know what to do with themselves, so they end up annoying each other to no end. I've been brainstorming throughout the last couple days today to figure out a structured yet enjoyable schedule to help us all have better days together. Plus, I want to do some "fun" schooling over the summer to get in subjects we normally don't get to, plus review of math facts to keep it fresh in Ben's brain. And who knows; this can totally backfire on me. What looks good on paper doesn't always pan out well in reality. Like communism! Ha! More on this soon.
We got home Monday from an extended weekend in Chicago! It was our first major road trip since Hannah's birth and the first time we've been with my family since Thanksgiving. We had such a fun time with the kids running around with their cousins, eating, swimming, hanging out, etc. This is the first trip I've ever had to ride permanently in the back seat, thanks to Hannah's high maintenance tendencies. ;-) She did really well though thanks to the carseat-friendly swaddle blanket. The boys would conk out for hours at a time in the car when they were babies, but Hannah will only give us one hour at most. We still have two more big trips this summer so I hope that she gets it figured out! Here is a picture of my whole family, ever growing... grandchild #6 is due in August! Yes, yes, this means my parents will have a 6-Pac of grandkids. :-) See the rest of the pictures from Ben's birthday and this trip over on Facebook!
