One of the highlights of our church calendar year is Vacation Bible School every summer. We just wrapped up a week of the
Big Apple Adventure: Where Faith and Life Connect. It took kids through New York City, all the while teaching them to connect with faith, with love, with trust, with others, and with life in general!
Andrew and I have done the music as long as we've been at Bogey Hills, and we have fun each year. We have to learn all the music and dance/motions ahead of time, which actually isn't hard now that many of the same motions are used year after year and we can pretty much assume what will be happening next. Our "set" was a music backstage, like on Broadway. To decorate I found a pretty inexpensive stage/lighting back drop and I threw a few paint cans and other tools around. We also love to dress according to our music area. In the past we've dressed up like grease monkeys, in athletic gear, and formal concert attire (tux, dress). This year since we were back stage, we wore all black to be the stage crew. Next year it'll be music at the Matterhorn... so I guess it's a dirndl and lederhosen for us?!! Ha!
Anyway, Ben had a really fun time with his friends, and even though Joe was technically too young for the 3s class, our sweet friend Tara took him anyway and put him back in the childcare room as needed. Finally by Thursday and Friday he was able to stay in the class the whole time. :-) Here are pictures of our fun!
