We just got home last night after being up in gorgeous northwestern Illinois in a quaint little town called Galena. Our nephew Nathan snagged a spot in the Chicago Wolves Baby Derby this past winter, where he had to crawl/race against a handful of other babies on the (carpeted) ice during the hockey game intermission. He had a come from behind win, and the prize was a luxury house at the Eagle Ridge Resort in Galena. See the whole story on ESPN's website here!
So on Thursday, the whole clan met up at the resort. We had a beautiful 5 bedroom, 5 bathroom house that we stayed in... 2 grandparents, 5 adult children, 2 husbands, 4 grandkids, and 1 best friend. We did some swimming, board gaming, half of us did canoeing/paddle-boating and biking, and we all ate and ate and ate.
This was the first time in over 20 years we did a big family overnight somewhere... the last time was when my almost 22 year old sister was 9 months old (and she got an ear infection and there were big thunderstorms and the power kept going out!).
This was so fun and I hope we don't wait that long to do it again!!!
